Timea Spitka, PhD
(She/Her) Timea’s main areas of expertise are; results-based project management, human security, gender, conflict & peace and children's rights. Timea has worked for several international organizations including the United Nations and Oxfam. Her experience in projects has focused on results-based management and implementation of evaluation and monitoring of methodologies to promote gender and youth empowerment. As an academic and practitioner, Timea maintains excellent knowledge of quantative and qualitative methodologies and tools for surveying projects, peace building and community engagement, advocacy, protection of human rights and social inclusion. Timea is a Fellow at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs, at Carleton University. She is the author of the book International Intervention, Identity and Conflict Transformation: Bridges and Walls Between Groups and several articles including, ‘Children on the Front Lines: Responsibility to Protect in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.’ Her new book, National and International Civilian Protection Strategies in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, will be published in 2023 by Palgrave Macmillan.

NETTIE BOIVIN, PhD
Dr. Nettie Boivin (they/them) is a senior researcher and policy analyst, formerly Associate Professor and Strategic Advisor for Research Collegium Research Collegium for Language in Changing Society at Jyvaskyla University, Finland. Presently, sits as a Board of Director for Food Secure Canada. Their areas are gender, ethics, migration, food systems, and trauma-informed learning. They are internationally recognized in these areas as evidenced in their co-authored Questions in Qualitative Social Justice Research in Multicultural Contexts, which was awarded Outstanding Qualitative Book 2023 from the American Education Research Association. They have been researching and facilitating humanitarian projects and programs for 15 years. They worked on nine countries, 14 partners 4-million-euro project for the European Horizon 2020, Migration Innovative Pilot Actions, Networking the Educational World Across Boundaries for Community-Building (NEWABCs). The project investigates barriers in public policies (economic, legal, social, education) that impact integration. Their specialty is in designing, evaluating, monitoring projects, programs, and training. They worked on the Malaysia Australia Education Project for Afghanistan (MAEPA), supported by AusAID in partnership with the Afghanistan Ministry of Education and the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program, aimed to improve the quality of education and increasing access to education for girls through training for Afghan teacher trainers.
